PeerIQ’s weekly newsletter discusses the big banks which reported Q4 2018 earnings last week; volatility had an effect on trading revenues negatively while revenues from loan operations were strong; charge-offs also remain low across the banks and PeerIQ noted that 2018 was the first year when the top 6 banks reported $100 billion in profits; the newsletter also shared the thoughts from Comptroller Otting about the Fed not being a roadblock for fintechs applying for the OCC Fintech Charter; last week we also saw a major bank partnership as Key Bank purchased the mortgage and student loan platform Laurel Road.
